This group is divided into two levels. Tiger Cubs and Little Tigers. Our goal is to entertain, stimulate and educate children all within the framework of a structured play group. We strive to build coordination and basic motor skills, and teach courtesy, fair play and a sense of accomplishment. Class length is only 45 minutes focusing 3 sections: warm-up, karate movements, and fun activities. Class size is limited to enable each child to reach his/her fullest potential.
Tiger Cubs is an introductory class geared toward developing coordination, basic motor skills, and stretching. Both individual and group activities are used in conjunction with various mats, pads, hand targets, fitness balls, medicine balls, and kicking shields. This structured play group emphasizes the FUN aspects of Karate and prepares each child for the next level class, the Little Tigers.
Little Tigers is an intermediate level class distinguished by yellow & black (Tiger) belts which signify the accomplishment of the basic skills. It is the continuation of the tiger cub's curriculum which reinforces the skills learned in the previous level and includes many more individual and group activities. At this level, instructors stress increasing each student's fitness level with progressively challenging drills, teaching the concepts of left and right, and focusing on developing the value of teamwork, cooperation, good manners, and respect for oneself and others. This level introduces more difficult coordination of hands and feet, balance, timing, flexibility and self-defense techniques and “Karate Tag”. |
